Happy Black Friday! I am on Breakfast Television Toronto discussing my favourite things for Black Friday at 7:10 am ish. To all my American readers I hope you had a great holiday filled with friends and family. Not sure how you feel about all the retailer overload during the holiday. It’s great for us Canadians as we’re totally stealing Black Friday and making it our own shopping tradition without sacrificing a holiday. Any great deals or steals?

With Christmas around the corner I thought I would discuss one of my favourite skin care products – Clarisonic Aria.

I mentioned a few weeks ago how I was not born with perfect skin – decent skin but with issues. Now that the weather is changing and getting colder my newest skin issue is dry skin. Some of you may know what I’m talking about; those dry patches that some of us get all because of our wonderfully cold and extremely dry winters in Canada. I usually get mine on my cheeks/chin/nose area. That coupled with my pores makes for some fun times. I am always hesitant when it comes to trying new beauty products or tools and it has everything to do with having two major skin breakouts, one in my late 20s early the other in my early 30s. I used two very different products, made by different manufacturers that were supposed to be for the most sensitive of skin types and it took months for my skin to get back to normal. I’ll be testing more products because many of you have asked me to and it gives me something else to do. I like to test products out for a month before I write anything about them to really be sure they work.

That being said when I was approached to test out the Clarisonic Aria I have to admit I was excited. Many other bloggers that I know personally were raving about how great the product is and I was interested. Skin is important and as we add some years to our life resume (sounds much better then getting old) we want to ensure that our skin is taken care of and shines. We only have one face.

The Aria is a “harmonic blend of function and form. Sleek, modern, intuitive, Clarisonic Aria sings with 3 speeds, a real-time battery life indicator, USB-enabled pLink charger and a drying stand that converts to a charging station when coupled with the pLink charger. Cleansing is the essential first step in a healthy skin care ritual. The patented Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush uses a sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to deeply cleanse the skin far more effectively, yet more gently, than traditional superficial cleansing or simple rotating brushes. The result is noticeably smoother, more radiant skin. “

The first time I used my Aria I had a patch of dry skin on my cheek that had been there for a few days, it was gone after that first use. Not only that but my skin felt polished and my pores less visible. Honestly that’s all I needed to be hooked was seeing immediate results after that first time. I use my Aria twice a day when I can (life sometimes gets in the way of a great skin care routine) and have not had any issues. My skin looks clean and if feels cleaner. Which sounds strange but once you use it you will know exactly what I mean.

Here are some of the great features of this machine

  • – 3 speeds
  • – Adjustable timer. The “universal” timer is set for a minute and is broken down as so – 20 sec forehead, 20 sec nose/chin, 10 sec each cheek. It takes the guess work out of it
  • – USB-Enabled Universal Voltage pLink Charger which makes it perfect for travel
  • – Interchangeable Facial Brush Heads
  • – 2 Year Warranty
  • – Made in USA

In Canada the Aria is available at Hudson Bay, Holt Renfrew and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Now for a little something that will be sure to start your weekend off right – a chance to win your own Aria!

I worry about putting things on my skin (ie a multitude of chemicals listed as ingredients in creams) and then i worry about not putting enough – what if I get wrinkles because I didn’t apply enough retinol a or antioxidant x, y, or z in my twenties? Navigating skin care is so confusing!

I would LOVE to try a Clairsonic. But like you life would get in the way sometimes of using it regularly. Still it would be great to see how it can improve my skin.

I’ve long been curious to try one–people rave about them, but you never know if they have a sturdier skin type.

I have a clarisonic and love it! Would love to try the aria and pass along my other one to my daughter. Love this product!
As for concerns, I’m breaking out now! In my {ahem} 40’s! What is that all about??

Some hyperpigmentation. I am a black woman and darker skin tones are prone to dark spots and scarring.
