Dec 082016

I’m originally from Windsor, Ontario (across the river from Detroit) and we have mild winters. When I moved to Waterloo for university I finally experienced a real Canadian winter which meant I had to buy a really warm winter coat. As a university student I headed to Mark’s Work Warehouse and purchased a yellow two in one Windriver coat. That coat kept me very warm during my university years and I LOVED it. You could spot me on campus in a second and I liked it.

Now a lot has changed in the last twenty years for me and Mark’s Work Wearhouse. First we both went through name changes Iva Galic became Iva Grbesic and Mark’s Work Wearhouse became Mark’s. Second our styles have evolved – sorry no more bright yellow winter coat for either of us. Going into Mark’s now means lots of on trend choices that still deliver quality pieces made for however you work or play. It was very appropriate that Mark’s invited me to shop for a winter coat. All the great memories came flooding back.

Mark’s has a great selection of coats in styles for all – parkas, soft-shell or quilted coats.

The coat I selected is the HD1 Water-Repellant T-MAX Winter Parka by Windriver. Yup, 20 years later and I still pick the Windriver brand. I already have a few black coats so I selected this olive one (yes it comes in black for those of you wondering). Olive is still a neutral colour and goes with everything in my closet. I can tell you this coat is very warm and fashion forward. I LOVE all the pockets. I keep my phone and keys safe and buttoned in and my gloves easily accessible. Check out the sleeves!! Long enough for this tall girl.

The back snaps make it very easy to move around in. The stitching detail keeps me from looking puffy. The detachable hood is lined with faux fur and gives it that luxe touch. This coat has gotten me ready for the coming winter.

Mark’s and I have found our fashion stride and we’ll be warm and stylish this winter.

I’d like to introduce you to my new photographer Miriam Massei! For those in the GTA check out Miriam’s amazing work.
