Black Pencil Skirt

A black pencil skirt and a white button down. A classic or some would say basic outfit. It’s an easy choice for every woman. This fringed pencil skirt and sleeve detailed blouse is anything but basic. These silhouettes have classic elements and are updated with texture and volume – creating a classic twist. It’s an easy update to every wardrobe. You don’t have to do both pieces but together they make for an interesting combination.

The last time I wore this skirt I added a wide belt to the outfit. Just something else to try.

Girlfriend Jeans

This is the perfect jacket for me. It is impeccably tailored, can be dressed up and down and is a classic silhouette. That’s the thing about Reiss, they have great jackets. Oh and blazers. I love their blazers.

A few weeks ago I was invited by Caryl Baker Visage to their Sherway Gardens location to experience a Power Hyaluronic Facial. I’ve included the infographic below. It summarizes what this facial entails perfectly.

What it can’t tell you is about the experience. Let me explain, I enjoy a good facial but up until now the only ones I’ve had are in downtown Toronto. They have been great (my skin felt amazing) and expensive and I always leave a bit angry. Whenever I go the aestheticians tell me how poor my skin is and how I need to book my next facial right away and take care of my skin better and buy all their products. OK then…so I never go back. There is some truth to what they are saying but my skin is never as bad as the aesthetician says. It’s not only in downtown Toronto, same thing happened to a friend of mine who had a facial in an upscale spa in Windsor. I don’t understand how anyone would think I would want to come back.

At Caryl Baker Visage I received my facial which was amazing. There are Caryl Baker locations everywhere (I used to go to the Devonshire Mall location in Windsor when I was younger) so many of us in Ontario have access to great facials at reasonable prices. There was no up sell. The aesthetician provided my facial, talked about the other services and we discussed my skin. There were things I asked about she said I didn’t need to bother spending money on and recommended a few things to me. Done.

That impressed me so I have booked my next facial – Birthday present to myself.

I was also treated to a full makeup application, eyebrow waxing and eyebrow and lash tinting. The eyebrow and eyelash tinting I am doing again right before I head out on vacation.

Caryl Baker Visage is a one stop shop for your beauty product and service needs. With the Power Hyaluronic Facial you can get your makeup done and your skin is glowing underneath. You still have the glow for the next two days and if you want you could get this facial every week. The facial leaves your skin feeling hydrated and I thought gave me a dewey glow. I have combinations skin and it just felt beautiful.

My makeup features product from Caryl Baker Visage Coastal Collection – corals and deep blues are featured.

I was gifted the Caryl Baker H2O Restore product line. I have been using this line for months and had purchased Hydrating Gel recently because I love how it feels on my skin. It’s a line I can get behind. There is no over powering smell with the products, it leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh. It’s not oily and there are several products from the line for you to choose from.

I learned that if you own bronzer it can be used as a contour.

As a blogger and social media influencer (don’t I sound fancy) I get invited to lots of things but I wanted to share services and products I would actually (and have) purchase(d). I can see why Caryl Baker Visage has been around for so long.

One of the things I don’t do enough is show you how I wear one item in different ways. I’ve styled this bow blouse a bit differently in the following photos but very similarly at the same time. Jeans, Blazer and this blouse.  Colour, style and silhouette. Same but different. You know what I mean.

Happy Blouse.

Sad Blouse. See the difference?

Outfit Details: Blouse, Banana Republic (here, sleeveless white option here; striped sleepless option here). Blazer, WHBM (on HUGE sale here, olive version here, white version here); Jeans, Levi’s from Mark’s (here & here & here); Shoes, Ann Taylor (old, similar here).

I recently went to Calgary and wore the bow blouse. I made the bow fuller and this time paired it with a camel blazer, flare jeans and sneakers. See what I mean? Same but different.

I know – I am a very fancy traveller. With kids, without kids.

Outfit Details – Blouse, Banana Republic (here); Jeans, Banana Republic (old, similar here); Blazer, Banana Republic (old and fall weight, summer version here); Sneakers, Ecco (here, similar here, love these).

I wanted to share my latest makeover for Cityline. I always share these photos on Instagram (and when I remember to FaceBook) but have never done it here for my blog. I’m really happy with how the women look and they were just such an amazing group. Plus I’m a little obsessed with the outfit I am wearing.

I am wearing head to toe White House Black Market: top, skirt, shoes, belt & earrings.

My latest video is up and I’m reviewing CND Vinylux and Essie Gel Courture nail polish.

I’m proud of this video because I filmed it and edited it myself which scared the pants off me. Hope you enjoy the video and give me a like and subscribe if you want more.

Have a great weekend!

lighten up Sassoon Toronto

Spring is here, the sun is out (at the moment I am typing this) and my hair is lighter!

No, not dramatic blonde bombshell lighter. Some will even ask “It’s lighter?”. For proof click here.

I had all over caramel blonde highlights added and more layers but they were kept long. I want to ease into a blonde colour decision. This is a very soft colour and an easy to maintain cut. What I love about the colourists at Sassoon is they ask questions and listen. Kim (she did my colour) wanted to know if I wore my hair up, what other projects I was working on and what I wanted.

She suggested we could do half a head of highlights. This is a great way to save time and money at the salon – highlights are applied to the top half of your head. If you put your hair in a pony tail it can be obvious that you didn’t highlight the lower half of your hair. I wanted the whole head done. I just don’t know what project may pop up and I need to be ready.

Wesley (he cut my hair and is a Creative Director at Sassoon) cut off extra weight. He also taught me a new way to curl my hair and I haven’t been able to replicate it – not even close. I will have to pay closer attention next time.

I’m gong to link in Sassoon here again for anyone looking for a change and to check out their work follow them on Instagram here. I’m enjoying this hair journey I’m on.

I did it! I have wanted to start a YouTube channel for the last year but I ALWAYS chickened out. I would try to film myself and hated every second of it. I would fumble with my words, get frustrated and just wish I had someone to talk to while filming the videos. I had fun doing a YouTube video with Rotem (Fun at Home) on her channel and this made me want to try again, but how?

I have featured Mark’s on Cityline several times. I really enjoy working with their team and showing women across Canada how to shop their favourite stores and elevate their own personal style at the same time. I figured featuring Mark’s would make my first YouTube fun and would offer all women great fashion tips as we head into spring. The easiest way to refresh your spring wardrobe is to add great denim pieces.

Check out my first YouTube video as I select some great spring pieces and I have added all the links below to what I am wearing and what I am featuring in this video. I hope you enjoy and get ready for me to upload new videos every week. I’m learning new skills and taking on my biggest critic, myself!
What I Wore: Levi’s Trucker Jacket (you are going to see this iconic statement piece EVERYWHERE); DH3 T-Shirt with Side KnotDH3 Mia Mid-Rise Slim Skinny Jeans (I went up a size, I tend to do that when I am buying white jeans).

I LOVE this dress and it is a style I thought I would never wear. A drop waist for a tall girl can be tricky. I wear this dress from LOFT with tights all the time. The weather has been tricky here so I waited to post it on the blog. Now it is sold out online but I am linking some similar styles : here, here, here, tall dress option here.
